Altira: Darkest of the Elves -- Or Is She?

She's been banished from her home without a word of explanation. Assassins are hot on her tail, and she's fleeing without a plan. On the whole, the future looks pretty grim. Then again, it's nearly impossible to catch a Dark Elf. And even tougher to kill one.

Meet Altira. She set out to rob a sultan of a few trinkets, and ended up pilfering the deadliest gem in the world by mistake… and it could end up costing her life. Either that, or she might vey well discover how to rescue her race from extinction and possibly save the world as she knows it.

As Altira races to triumph over the vast forces arrayed against her she acquires, mostly against her will, a rich cast of unexpected allies and enemies — perceptive dwarves, giant, Phoenix birds with mystical powers, and creatures made of nothing but air. Aided by her new-found friends, they must find a way to defeat the army of assassins set against her, endure the wrath of three nations, and finally, to forge allegiances with ancient arch-enemies. All this, to reveal the truth to a people kept in darkness for millennia.

The first installment in the Guardian Chronicles, Dark Talisman takes us into the magical land of Salustra, where ageless Guardians are locked in an eternal battle with their mortal enemy: a Dark Lord on the verge of destroying their world and dragging everyone in it into the realm of the dead. These are the stories of the ancient and immortal Phorin`Tra — great Phoenix birds, and their chosen yet fallible and often unwilling heroes. Both are balanced on the razor's edge of utter annihilation.
